"First Comes Trust"
By Tom Shapley
How can you compete in your market? The answer is by developing trust from your
potential clients. It is a natural fact that people like to do business with people
they trust. So how do you develop this trust through a computer terminal possibly
thousands of mile away? By providing the best service available and being completely
straight with people.
In the internet marketing arena there are many
"wolves" trying to make quick cash any way they can. While these people
may turn a quick buck here and there, it usually does not take long before people
recognize who they really are. To sustain a financial independence, you must continuously
shine. You have to provide the best service available in your field. You must
answer your customer's questions promptly, anticipate their future needs and become
someone your customers can depend on.
It is a well known fact that it is much more
difficult and expensive to find a new customer than to market to an existing customer.
This is provided that you have been honest and trustworthy on your first sale.
Provide great service and people will not only buy from you again, but they will
recommend you to others.
If you are struggling with just getting
started, provide great service for free and you will become known as trustworthy source.
Once you have established yourself as a knowledgeable expert who provides
outstanding service in your field, you will be fighting to keep up with your customers.
The internet is littered with stories of
people making quick money. But where are these people now? Most likely they
are broke trying to figure out how to fool people again. The people who have
developed huge businesses by being the best are the ones with secure financial
independence. They have done this by getting rich slowly. They have
established trust with their customers and a dominance in their field. When they
speak, people listen. If you are going to compete with them, you must give your
best. Provide the best possible service in your field, give the best information to
your customers and potential customers, and answer your customer's questions quickly and
accurately.
Trust is not something people give out easily,
especially over the internet. In order to get it, you must earn it. Once you
have, you will be greatly rewarded. Unfortunately this is not always the easiest
thing to do. It is much easier to promise the world and deliver nothing. Do
not be tempted into falling into this trap. Sure you could probably get some short
term gains, but it will not take long for word to get around and your good name will be
ruined. Short term gains are not worth sacrificing your integrity over.
Work with the attitude that you are the best.
That everyone else is trying to keep up with you. Establish a trusting bond with
your customers and help everyone you can. Stay focused on achieving your goals
through helping others and people (customers) will be drawn to you. People are
looking for leaders they can trust. They are looking for solutions to their
problems. Provide what they need and you will have profits beyond your imagination.
