The Internet is overflowing with affiliate programs-those
opportunities from which anyone can make a profit. However, not
everyone who participates in affiliate programs is earning a
substantial amount of money. Some affiliates are lucky to make
anything at all-simply because they are trying to the sell the
wrong way--or perhaps, the wrong products.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind when joining new affiliate
programs:

1. Do not waste your time on earning a dollar here and there.
First, you should seek products and services that pay at least
20% or higher, if you are fortunate enough to find them. Find
affiliate programs that tend to turn sales and pay by your
definition of a decent profit. Sure, a dollar is a dollar, but by
spending your time focusing your efforts on earning a dollar, you
are losing an opportunity to make oodles of dollars!

2. Search for the Two Tier Programs.
Two tier programs pay on two levels or tiers. This type of
affiliate program helps you make a profit not only from your web
site, but also from the web site of people (sub-affiliates) who
join the program under you. Even if your web site is not making
constant sales, you still have the opportunity to earn money
through your sub-affiliates.

3. Beware of the Less-Than-Sticky Programs.
Avoid the "fly-by-niters" . . . those companies that you know
nothing about and tend to be here today and gone tomorrow.
Conduct a bit of research to find out who the reliable businesses
are and proceed to become a part of their team.

4. Seek Reputable Affiliations.
Seek out reputable online businesses you would choose to
associate with and learn everything you can about the products
and services you plan to market as a reseller. Consider that
their reputation will become your own.

Your Internet affiliation is just as important as your
affiliations right in your hometown. How would you select these
businesses? You would choose them by their reputation, what they
offer, how well their business is prospering, etc. You would not
select to affiliate yourself with a company you know nothing
about, or one whose products and services you have never
experienced.

5. Match Your Business Theme.
Associate yourself with affiliate programs whose products and
services complement your business theme. In other words, if your
web site focuses on cooking, the perfect affiliate programs for
you would include recipe books, kitchen gadgets and accessories,
kitchen décor, cookware, etc. These items will fit perfectly
within your already existing web site and blend in with your
focus, not stand out like a sore thumb.

6. Use Persuasion to Sell to Your Affiliate Program Products
This is not as difficult as it sounds. When you click on a web
site that contains pictures of products down the right-hand side
of the page, you immediately assume these are advertisements.
Common sense tells us other visitors might consider them as ads
and may move on and bypass the products altogether. How many
times do you pick up the newspaper and see a chain store ad,
glance through it, and toss it to the side and move on to
something else? The concept is the same. They are ads and
unless the potential customer has an immediate need for the
product, or it appeals to him in some way, he is going to move
on.

However, there is a better way to keep the visitor there and
potentially sell him your products and services. Don't just show
him a picture. Make him believe he needs the product and explain
why. Share these opportunities in such a way that the benefits of
each product will be revealed to your customer. Word your offers
to speak to the buyer's emotions and command an action to buy
now!

Again, consider a web site devoted to educating aspiring cooks on
the benefits of selecting a specific type of cookware. This web
site can review different cookware and blend in affiliate links
to recommend a particular brand of products to view and possibly
purchase, thus the web owner has an opportunity to make a profit.

7. Buy the Product You Intend to Resell
I am a believer in owning the products first and selling them
second. If that makes me different from anyone else who is
currently an affiliate - I am proud to be different in this
respect. Yes, I believe you first need to try the product,
tinker with it and learn how it works. Only then, can you really
help a prospect understand what makes this product unique. When
you own what you are selling to others, you have an advantage
over other affiliates--you can endorse the product by revealing
the benefits you liked most.

Yes, there is actual money made from reselling on the Internet.
But there are a lot of resellers who are not realizing their
fullest income potential because they do not know how to go about
establishing a profitable reseller web site. Put these tips into
motion and get busy making some money right from your recliner!
